Q: Do you run MVRs?
A:Yes, MVRs are run for drivers with a primary residence in California*, Florida, Maine, or Minnesota. The lookback period is 3 years for California and 5 years for all other states.
*In California, MVR data is currently collected as we develop our underwriting framework, but does not yet affect premium or coverage decisions. Monoline is transitioning from agency-provided data to third-party data integration. This transition period allows us to establish baseline data and refine our risk assessment approach before implementation, ensuring we continue to provide stable solutions using smart risk selection.
MVRs are based on the insured's primary residence state, not the covered driver's license state.
Q: Does Monoline write drivers with international licenses?
A: It depends on the primary residence state. In most states, we will write drivers with international licenses as long as they're legally able to drive in the US and get auto insurance. Drivers with a primary residence in CA, FL, ME, or MN are not eligible, as MVRs require a U.S.-issued license number.
Q: What is the MVR Disclosure & Authorization?
A: This is the disclosure you acknowledge when adding a covered driver, authorizing Monoline to obtain the driver's MVR for underwriting purposes.
