Should drivers with a Learner’s Permit be added to the policy?

Yes. Any household resident with a learner's permit must be officially disclosed on the policy. Here is why this matters and how to handle it in the application.

  • Disclosure Requirement: The policy schedule states that the drivers listed in the application are the only drivers who live in the household or regularly drive the vehicles. Failing to include a permitted driver who lives there could conflict with that declaration.

  • Alignment with Primary Insurance: Policy conditions require that any changes in the number of drivers be declared to Monoline at the same time they are declared to the primary insurance carrier.

  • Rating Note: Monoline's rating rules assign premium charges for each licensed driver. Keep in mind that Monoline charges for any driver listed on the policy, including those with a learner's permit. Full disclosure of all household operators is necessary to satisfy policy terms.

How to enter a permit in the application

In the driver section, where the application asks for a driver's license number, enter the permit number in that field instead.
